Well the first thing you are going to need is some kind
of a Photo Editor, one in which supports what is known as "Layers". This is
where one places an image in one Layer while placing another image in another
layer and so on and so on to combined them all together to making a single
image, or in our case, a Desktop Wallpaper. And while there are many Professional Editors that you can buy, ranging any where from around
$29.95 all the way up into the hundreds of dollars. But I figured to be able to
help more of You to see if this is something that You would even like doing on your
computer in the first place and before spending any of your hard earned money to find out, that
We would all start together using a "FREE" Photo Editor that I just found. Yes I know what you're
thinking, "How can a free editor do what the Pro Editors do that You have to
buy?" Well it can, it just doesn't have all the whistles and bells that the Pro
Editors have and somethings have to be done manually, while the Pro Editors do them automatically, but You still can make Wallpapers with it as you have seen on My Wallpaper Blog and by My 1st Posting Right HERE!!!
So with said, the "Free" Photo Editor I'm talking
about is called GIMP and at the time of this posting their Current Version was 2.8.10.....
You Will Find Complete Information About This Program
At...
And to Download this Program....
If your Computer is running Windows (XP & Up) You can get Your free
download here....
And if you have a MAC Computer
then You can get Your free download here....
These downloads
are rather large, for the PC version for Windows is 88,278 KBs, so depending on your
Internet speed this might take a few minutes. But once you have it downloaded,
please install it on your computer. This program comes in 11 different languages, not just English.
The other thing that you are going to need is some Art Work, so that You and I can make Your 1st
Wallpaper using the same background and the same furry stud that I have chosen. So please download the following two "JPG" images by right clicking on each and from the pop up menu select "Open in new tab" and when the new tab opens click on the image and save them in a New File Folder in Your "My Picture
Folder" and label it as "My 1st Wallpaper". This way you will have the full size version of both, not these smaller version as show here....
Once you have
all this done, now open up Gimp and if I remember correctly, once this program
is installed, it doesn't place a Icon on your desktop for You to start it!!! So to open the
program, click on "Start", then "Programs" and look for the Gimp Icon
there to start it and once it fully opened this is what you will
see.....
And Yes I know,
somewhat overwhelming when you 1st see it, but trust Me on this one I'm going to walk you through it step-by-step and when We are all done, you should have a Desktop Wallpaper
worthy to share with others and you will know what a lot of what all this means and how to use it. OK? OK.
So when your
ready to go work and start making you first Wallpaper, Click on [Making Your 1st
Wall] at the top of the page.
